LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Police department has identified a suspect in a double-murder on a sports field at Shadow Ranch Park in West Hills.

Ryan Conrad, 27, of North Hollywood was wanted in the shooting that was reported about 8:45 p.m. Wednesday in the 22600 block of Vanowen Street, said Los Angeles police Officer Drake Madison.

An argument in the parking lot apparently preceded the gunfire, reported about 8:45 p.m. Wednesday in the 22600 block of Vanowen Street. Los Angeles police investigators indicated the shooter knew the victims.

Cesar Ascencio, 42, reportedly was able to speak to police before he died at a hospital. The other victim, a man in his 20s, died at the scene. His name was being withheld pending notification of kin.

Neighbors unnerved by the killings told reporters that they have noticed gang and drug activity at the rear of the park, which is across from a private high school.

Anyone with information on the crime was urged to call 877-LAPD-247.
