DiCaprio has been very vocal about the threat of global warming and was a prominent figure in the 2017 People’s Climate March. Most recently, he worked with Mexico’s president to save endangered porpoises and collaborated with Jane Goodall on an apparel line whose proceeds fund projects to ensure the protections of apes and their habitats. In 2017, DiCaprio was honored by the UN as a Messenger of Peace for his focus on climate change.

In 2016, the Big Little Lies star was honored by Environmental Media Association with the Female EMA Futures Award for her work with social and environmental issues. That same year Woodley was arrested for trespassing for her involvement in the protest of the Dakota Oil Pipeline access project in North Dakota. Her commitment to sustainability is evident as she “exclusively buys used clothes” and claims to get water from fresh springs whenever possible. Woodley’s mantra can be summarized by her 2014 quote: "My religion is the Earth, man. I believe in trees."

The Dave Matthews Band created the Bama Green Project https://www.bamagreen.org/ to encourage fans to recycle, save energy, and reduce their environmental impact. In addition, the organization is involved with the conservation of elephants and other wildlife.  To further promote sustainability, the group uses biodiesel-fueled buses and generators in order to neutralize the carbon footprint of the entire touring careers. Matthews himself also started Dreaming Tree wines  which features bottles that are 50 percent lighter than average, sustainably grown corks and labels made with 100% recycled paper and an eco-friendly sealant. Cheers to that!

Forests are essential for life on Earth. They are part of our lives in more ways than we realize: they help clean the air we breathe and prevent soil erosion, prevent flooding and replenish groundwater. Forests help in controlling humidity and temperature, influencing rain cycles, as well as providing food, water, medicine, and sheltering invaluable biodiversity. We need standing forests not only to ensure balanced climatic conditions on our planet, but also to enable us to continue enjoying the wonders that nature offers us. #diainternacionaldafloresta
