ENCINO - A passenger was killed Monday morning in a fatal crash on the 101 freeway in Encino.

A California Highway Patrol car was also involved.

Eastbound lanes on the 101 Freeway in Encino were shut down until about 11 a.m. at White Oak Avenue due to the deadly crash.

The CHP has just reopened the eastbound 101 freeway at White Oak Avenue in Encino after a fatal accident involving an Uber passenger who got out of the car on the freeway and was killed.

The crash on southbound 101 freeway happened after some passengers in an Uber, heading northbound, got into a fight. CHP says the driver pulled over in the fast lane, and a passenger got out and jumped the center divider and was hit and killed by a CHP vehicle.

The Uber driver, who was involved in the tragedy on the westbound 101 freeway, says his two passengers were really trying to hurt each other before he stopped, and one passenger got out and was hit and killed by vehicles on the eastbound side in Encino.

The CHP sergeant, who was involved in the fatal crash on the eastbound 101 freeway, suffered minor injuries from a broken windshield.
